Razanj through centuries
Even though there wasn’t any archeological researches on territory of Razanj municipality, during building of houses or digging wells, appeared interesting archeological locations that confirm existence of this town B.C. Object that were found are kept in museums, in Belgrade and Nis. They testify that this area was settled in pre-historical time.
Legend of Razanj tells about town from Roman time when this town was called Arsena, by Latin word “arsenale” that means “ warehouse for keeping war equipment”. Near Razanj, in the middle of XVI century parts of Roman road were found. Name Razanj( which means spit) originates from Osman period. One of legends says that inhabitants protected themselves from Turks with pointed sticks that looked like spits. Other legend says that name comes from name Rozanj, highest point of mountain Bukovik( 893m).
Cultural and historical monuments
One of older monuments is monastery Saint Roman from IX century. Monastery is located by the road from Razanj to Krusevac, on the right coast of South Morava and is built before Nemanjics.
- Church “ Saint Peter and Paul” in Grabovo;
- Church “ Saint Prophet Elijah” built in 1840;

- Literate club “Desanka Maksimovic”;
- Amateur theatre in Razanj;
- Artistic Association “Sava Jeremic”.
Famous people
One of the most famous people from this municipality is Sava Jeremic, legendary flutist. He was born in village Poslon on January 13th 1904 and during all his lifetime he played flute. Since 1936 till his death, April 21st 1989, he was member of Radio Belgrade. He ahs special place in Serbian folklore.
In period, which is marked as the most successful in Sava Jeremic’s creative work, he had memorable concerts in Serbia and abroad with many orchestras.
Great success of Sava Jeremic remembered when he won first place at international festival in Langley near London. People still remember dances like “Paracinka”, “Razanjsko”, “Krusevacko” and other.
