Geographic location


Razanj municipality has good geographic location. It is on crossroad of Balkan and Carpathian Serbia and Great and Souhtern Pomoravlje. Around it are municipalities Krusevac, Aleksinac, Soko Banja, Boljevac, Paracin and Cicevac, which are connected by three regional roads. Through Razanj municipality  the most important republic road high-way Belgrade-Nis. On the north-eastern side of Razanj is Bukovik mountain and on the north is saddle Mecka. Town of Razanj is on the 55th  kilometer from Nis to Belgrade, on the height above sea level of 264m. Railroad stations Braljina and Djunis, on railroad Belgrade-Nis, are on the west about 10 kilometers far from Razanj. Size of the territory that belongs to Razanj municipality is 289km2 . By administration it belongs to Nis region. Municipality itself consists of 23 settlements.

             

Climate

Two parts should be made to describe climate: area which spreads from Southern Morava toward mountains and climate on mountains.
Average annual temperature in Southern Moravian valley is about 110C. The coldest month id January with average temperature -0.80C, and the hottest is July with 220C. The average humidity per year in Moravian valley is 76.2%. The average amount of rain is 650mm. Months with most rainy days are May, June and autumn months and the least are March and February.

Nature and Relief

Relief of this territory is formed under dynamic influence of tectonic movements. This area is consisted of rock made on mainland and sea from all geological periods.
Main morphological characteristics are closeness of river Morava, hills and Poslonske and Bukovicke mountains.
Here we can differ three parts with interesting valleys, hills and mountains.
Valley belt includes alluvial surface of Southern Morava and tributaries with average height above sea level150 meters. Hill belt presents trasition zone from valleys to mountains with average height above sea level 350 meters.
Mountain belt leans on hills and spreads on east to Bukovik mountain( 894m) and west to Poslonske mountains.
On this territory non of detail researches of mineral raw materials had been made.      

Vegetation

The greatest percentage of land at this municipality take cultivated fields, forests come second, cattle grazing and meadows are third, then orchards and vineyards, and then the rest of the land is at the end. Dominant agricultural species are wheat and corn, barley and oat are rarely grown. Vegetables are grown on small lots and mostly used for individual needs. Forests are mostly deciduous but there are some conifers. Deciduous species are: beech, oak, black locust, hornbeam, European ash, maple,… Conifers are: pine tree, juniper…
There are different herb on cattle grazing and meadows. Area close to villages Lipovac and Rujiste has a lot of orchards and vineyards.
Thanks to good natural conditions, there are multiple animal species, such as: rabbit, wolf, fox, skunk, roe deer, wild cat, wild boar, wild goose, turtledove, wild pigeon, pheasant, woodpecker,…
